Questions

What is Us Two by James Tonic?

Us Two is a melancholic dream pop single from James Tonic, built on layered vocal harmonies, warm synth textures, and soft strings. It opens the road to the Safety Tour, a dream pop musical staged in seated theatres across 18 cities in winter 2026 and 2027.

The Record

Us Two is a melancholic dream pop ballad built on layered vocal harmonies, warm synth textures, and soft strings. Romance and drama in the same breath: two people, the end of the night, everything unsaid hanging in the air. For fans of Fleetwood Mac, Mild High Club, and Beach House.

Us Two follows the singles Who’s Going Down and How It Goes and continues the run that began with the albums Safety and Safety II. Where How It Goes leaned pop, Us Two returns to the core of the James Tonic sound: intimate, emotional, atmospheric songwriting with orchestral touches.

The single opens the road to the Safety Tour, a theatrical staging of the Safety albums presented as a dream pop musical in seated theatres across 18 cities, December 2026 through February 2027.

The Artist

James Tonic

James Tonic writes the kind of songs that curators keep describing with the same words: melancholic, atmospheric, warm, intimate. Raised in Montreal, he has spent seven albums refining a dream pop sound built on layered vocal harmonies, hazy synths, soft guitars, and strings, classic songwriting carried on an enveloping late night atmosphere.

His recent run of releases includes the albums Safety and Safety II and the singles Who’s Going Down, How It Goes, and now Us Two. Each one has widened his audience of playlist curators, radio programmers, and writers across North America, Europe, and Latin America, with coverage spanning independent radio, dream pop and indie playlists, and music press.

Us Two is the purest expression of his sound to date. An emotional ballad wrapped in warm synth textures and orchestral touches, it captures romance and drama in the same breath: two people, the end of the night, everything unsaid hanging in the air. It is a song designed to be felt before it is understood.

The single also marks the beginning of a new era. This winter, the Safety albums leave the studio and take the stage as the Safety Tour, a dream pop musical presented in seated theatres across 18 cities from December 2026 through February 2027. Staged with a live band and theatrical production, it reimagines the albums as a single narrative performance, and Us Two is the doorway into that world.
